ill allow you to explore those two on your own FA vs EJ - Stock Internals Comparison I am considering trading my unmodified 2017 WRX Limited for a WRX STI Limited. The EJ257 platform has me second guessing.The beefier drivetrain plus its hydraulic steering are tempting. EJ rods are pretty good, FAs are decent but not as strong as the EJs and are known to bend once the power goes up. From what I've seen thus far, the FA is a much better mill from the factory. The DI is going to cap the power for now but as soon as that is figured out the sky (or rods) are the limit.

But one thing that has been proven, a built FA with the stock twinscroll turbo is capable of putting out more power than a built EJ with its stock turbo. On the same merit though, the EJ is a more durable motor than the WRX FA. You're gonna need to build the FA much sooner power wise. In addition, the EJ will support more power for those looking to go all out. The FA has a hard wall in the amount of power it will support due to limited fuel supply.
